If you’re reading this blog entry then it’s likely that you’ve already attended a Training and Information Session (or plan to do so in the near future) and have decided to get involved in LEAPS activities.
In order to help you get an insight of what to expect in each of the four main activities that we deliver (Student For A Day plus the S4, S5 and S6 workshops), some of our existing volunteers have put together short sound clips, where they talk about their experiences and what you can expect to take place. Jill, Kayleigh, Mary and Mhairi have also offered tips so that you can make the most of your time as a volunteer. Excellent work.
Click on any of the links to hear what they have to say:
‘What happens in the S3 Student For A Day event’
‘Challenges you might experience during Student For A Day’
‘What happens in the S4 Courses, Qualifications and Careers workshop’
‘Challenges you might face in the S4 workshop’
'What happens in the S5 Typical Student Week workshop'
‘Challenges associated with the S5 workshop’
‘What happens in the S6 Getting by on a Budget workshop’
‘Challenges you might face in the S6 workshop’
‘How S5 and S6 pupils are different from those in S4’
‘How to break the ice with a quiet group’
You might find it helpful to listen to the relevant clips before taking part in each of the activities for the first time. I've added a permanent link to the right hand column so that you can refer back to these clips during the course of the year, as you wish.
A big thank you to Jill, Kayleigh, Mary and Mhairi for taking time to sharing their experiences and ideas.
