Friday 26 November, 10.30-1.45 or 10.30-12.30 S3 Campus Reporter
Jedburgh Grammar at Edinburgh University
If you would like to sign up for this workshop please email me on claire.aitchison@ed.ac.uk . As this event involves you escorting a small group of pupils around Edinburgh University’s central campus you need to either be a student at the university or be familiar with the campus.
The meeting time is 10.30am at Old College, Lecture Theatre 183 where we will have a short briefing before the school arrives at 11am. As they are coming a fairly long distance the school will be having lunch in the middle of the event. You therefore have the choice of staying til the end of the event at 1.45pm or leaving after the campus tour at 12.30.
For a summary of the S3 Campus Reporter event please see below;
This is the campus based event where the pupils use hand held video cameras around campus. After the usual ice breaking activity we split the pupils into small teams and set the scene. They are to act as researchers and reporters and will produce a short ‘TV news show’ by the end of the event assisted by you and the LEAPS staff. Each news team has a different ‘angle’ to report on and they use the video camera to record interviews and footage around campus which will be included in the final news show.
After a short break at Potter Row cafĂ© the pupils return to the base room which is set up like a TV studio – if you use your imagination! The news show is then broadcast with 2 pupils acting as the newsreaders who introduce each clip created by each of the news teams.
Most of the LEAPS team will be involved with this one and so far the following volunteers have signed up;
